There is finally some news for gamers awaiting further information about Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers project: an update from the title’s Creative Director confirms the game is still very much happening.

Back in 2016, Crystal Dynamics expanded and moved into a new studio that would allow the company to create bigger and better games. That new office space didn’t just come with perks for its workers, though, it also came equipped with a motion capture stage and six fully equipped sound rooms, along with a slew of new equipment. This move signaled the company was ready to take on more significant projects, including an Avengers game the company previously announced as part of a deal between Marvel and Square Enix. Although there is little information available about the Avengers game, Square Enix promised fans it would give them a title that would provide a lot of thrills, as well as introduce a new gaming universe they could enjoy for a long time. A teaser trailer released in 2017, but it only gave a hint of the Avengers characters fans will see in the game.

There is an update of sorts on Twitter, though, thanks to a tweet from Creative Director Shaun Escayg. That update still doesn’t offer any details about the Avengers project, but does assure fans the studio is working hard on it and that it is “a very ambitious game.” The tweet confirms the game is still in progress, though, and offers a hint that maybe fans will get a better idea of what the title is all about in 2019.

Crystal Dynamics has been busy since its move to a new office space. Not only did the studio release a new Tomb Raider game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it also saw the release of a new Tomb Raider movie. The company spent most of 2017 hiring new people during its expansion, meaning it has the workers on hand that it needs to complete the Avengers game, along with other big projects the studio has not yet announced.

With the success of Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PS4, it’s evident that Marvel fans want more games based on their favorite superheroes. With Avengers: Endgame landing in theaters next year, the demand for Avengers-related entertainment has never been higher. It’s good news that Crystal Dynamics has an Avengers game project in the works because that should keep Marvel fans satisfied once the MCU goes into its next phase.
