The special Crash 4 early access demo features three levels. One of these is a more traditional Crash Bandicoot level starring Crash himself, while the other focuses on one of Dr. Neo Cortex’s stages. Both levels give players a chance to work with two of the game’s signature Quantum Masks, the time control mask Kupuna-Wa, and the object phasing mask Lani-Loli.

A new PlayStation Underground episode provided some more detail about how these non-Crash-and-Coco levels flesh out the game’s story.

Additional playable characters, including Cortex and the newly-announced Tawna, each get their own introduction level as part of the story. After that, they have special optional levels players can tackle, where they see how the other character stories intertwine with Crash and Coco’s.

Tawna, for example, helps out when she can and watches over her friends. Cortex is always trying to cause havoc, while Dingodile is a hapless croc who just wants his diner back.

Toys For Bob said these aren’t the only new playable characters, but wouldn’t say more.

While the game will include extra costumes for Crash and Coco that aren’t microtransactions, the PlayStation store listing says these won’t be available until launch.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time releases on October 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch version is rumored to be in the works. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Crash 4 news as it spins up.
